“I just feel stuck.”
It’s one of the most common things I hear in coaching conversations.
Feeling stuck doesn’t always shout, it often whispers. It shows up in subtle ways: through indecision, procrastination, burnout, or a quiet sense that something just isn’t working. And when we’re in that place, it’s easy to get trapped in a loop of overthinking and inaction.
We wait for clarity, for energy, for the perfect plan before we move.
But the truth is, stuckness feeds on stillness– not the nourishing kind, but the kind that keeps us frozen.
Why You Might Be Feeling Stuck
Sometimes, feeling stuck isn’t just about a single decision. It’s deeper. It might mean:
- You’re holding on to a past version of yourself
- You’re living out a story or expectation that no longer fits
- You’re chasing a dream that once mattered but no longer feels like yours
In those moments, pushing through isn’t always the answer. What’s often more helpful is a pause – an intentional moment to reconnect with your why.
Ask yourself:
- What matters to me now?
- What feels meaningful, even if I don’t know where it will lead?
- What am I longing for beneath this feeling of stuckness?
Because stuckness is often a sign of misalignment. It’s a message from within, asking to be heard, not ignored.
Clarity Comes After Action
Here’s the shift: You don’t need to wait for clarity to act.
Sometimes, clarity comes after the first step.
Not a big leap. Just a small, kind move – a conversation, a boundary, a journal entry, a walk. Something that helps you breathe again. That loosens what feels tight and tangled.
Journal Prompts for When You Feel Stuck
If you’re feeling stuck and want to reflect, try journaling with these prompts:
- Where in my life do I feel stuck right now?
- What might I be holding on to that’s no longer serving me?
- What do I actually want, not what I think I should want?
- What small, kind step could I take this week?
- What does “aligned” feel like for me? When did I last feel it?
- What do I know to be true about myself, even in this stuckness?
You don’t have to have everything figured out.
You just need to begin – softly, honestly, with your why in your heart.
That’s how stuck things begin to move again.
